Purple White Fight Fight
Recognize anyone? I think this may have been as early as 1958. It was probably part of the celebration of 2nd place in State AHS Basketball Team. (Click on photo to enlarge.)
In 58-59 the majorettes were Betty Larsen, Linda Salsman, JoEllen Nelson, Shirley Johnston, Deanna Bowman, Carole Kangas and Sue Lowman. In 1957, they were Betty Larsen, Venice Aulerich, Joyce Rumsey, Carolyn Thomas, Kaaren Olson, Lorraine LeMay, Shirley Johnston, and Janice Atterberry. So it's very likely that it would have been Deanna, Joyce, Carole, Betty, JoEllen, Shirley, Linda, or Kaaren, and Sue Lowman.
While we are not certain, I know JoEllen Nelson is second from the left and I think it is Sue Lowman, 4th from the right. It looks like Carole Kangus third from the left.
I think the location could be out near Summit Park - perhaps to greet the basketball team after losing to Lincoln again. Don't really know - just a guess.
Two years in a row the AHS Basketball team placed second to Lincoln HS (Seattle) at the state basketball championship.

Someone else told me that this was the celebration of the opening of the "new freeway" from Sharpes Corner.
